Basic Info
Name:John King, DA
Website:Twilight City
Bio
Fandom: Robin Hood
Name: John King
Character Model: Alan Rickman
Age: 47
Current Residence: Winhill / Lemures Apartments (keeps two residences)
Occupation: District Attorney

Personality: John has one rule in life: Look out for number one. Being the politician that he is, John is practiced in putting on a good face for the public and can shake hands and kiss babies with the best of them. But anyone who knows him for more than five minutes can tell he’s self-centered and power-hungry, caring for nothing but himself and his position. He’s so obsessed with his own image that he’s almost a caricature of himself. People can’t believe that he’s real when they meet him, and it takes a moment to realize that there really can be people that blatantly absorbed. Despite this, he can be a useful friend when it suits him; he’s very fond of doing people favors or giving extravagant gifts or donations to charity, donations that are careful calculated to return their worth in one way or another. He can be charming, especially around women or those more powerful than him.

John is also extremely insecure. Most people don’t realize this through the face he puts on, and through the almost cloying air of arrogance he has. His insecurity makes him take stupid chances and risks in the name of saving face.

Biography: John was born and raised (as far as he knows) in Twilight City always in the shadow of his elder brother Richard. Though he always felt the weight of that shadow, he never tried to get out from under it. When Richard went for something, it was assured that John would follow along right behind him, reaching for the same goal, trying to out-shine but always a few steps behind. Richard was always the valedictorian, and John was lucky to pass. The most significant break he made from his brother’s established path was to go into law in college and after, rather than straight politics. It wasn’t much of a break, however, since the legal system was so heavily tied to the executive branch.

When their younger sister and her husband died, leaving their daughter Marian in the brothers’ combined care, John put in a good attempt. For a while and because Richard was doing it too. But after a short time it became so much simpler to just leave her in the care of a nanny when it was his turn to take care of her, as he was busy traveling, learning, and building contacts in the political world. It wasn’t until his niece was in high school and starting to date a hoodlum named Robin that he took real interest in the girl. He was running for District Attorney at the time and having a family member date a delinquent looked bad. To remedy the problem he decided to make an example of Robin, at once ridding himself of any ties to the boy and demonstrating to the voters his ‘firm stance’ on teenage violence.

Once elected, John made short work of settling into his new office. He was young for a DA, having capitalized on years of networking and scheming to get the position, and intended to use his new office for the fullest personal gain possible. DA, while the end goal for most people in his profession, is not where John intends to finish his career. He cultivates contacts from the highest levels of government to the lowest levels of the underworld.
